Indigo died Mayan textile, centerpiece made from handbroidered magic by a Mayan tribe in from Chichicastenango, Guatemala.
This piece is reconstructed from two pieces of Guatemalan textiles. The floral is a meticulously embroidered design from one of the best known weaving communities, Chichicastenango, and is a piece from a larger poncho like top the Mayan women wear called, "Huipils." The navy is a naturally died indigo/ikat, both of these are made with the mayan back strap weaving technique, used by many weaving women around the world.
